Amplified: A Conversation with Wesley Jones
Amplified is a podcast by Hear Indiana that highlights the stories of people making an impact in the world of hearing health, education, and advocacy. Each episode features voices from our community — parents, professionals, and partners — who are helping children with hearing loss reach their full potential through listening and spoken language.
In this episode, we profile board member Wesley Jones, a proud Indianapolis native whose career journey reminds us that success is rarely a straight line.
Wesley holds an accounting degree from Indiana University and began his professional life in public accounting in Washington, D.C. He later spent nine years working in collegiate athletics at IU, where his true passion lies — in the operational and administrative sides of sports. Today, he serves as the Director of Internal Audit for the City of Indianapolis, combining his expertise in finance and strategic planning to strengthen transparency and accountability in local government.
Throughout the episode, Wesley reflects on how his definition of success has evolved over time. He shares that career paths shift alongside life and family priorities, and that fulfillment often comes from serving where your skills can make the most impact.
Wesley joined the Hear Indiana Board of Directors in late 2023, after being sought out for his extensive background in budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic leadership. Though new to the organization at the time, he quickly connected with its mission to ensure that every child with hearing loss has the opportunity to listen, speak, and thrive.
