Tony Gigli  -
President and Camp Director

Tony is a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. He was born with a severe bilateral hearing loss, was mainstreamed in Lawrence Township Schools, and went on to receive his Bachelors degree from Wabash College. He recently worked as a staffer on the presidential campaign of Senator Clinton, and he now works as a clerk at City of Lawrence Utilities. Since 2003, he has represented the hearing aid consumers of Indiana on the State of Indiana Committee of Hearing Aid Dealer Examiners.


Mitch Denton, Secretary

Denton_Mitch[1].jpgMitch is native of Indiana and a Purdue Engineering graduate.  He currently works as a construction project manager for Pepper onstruction Co. of Indiana.  He is a hard of hearing adult, and he and his wife, Emily, are the parents of two, going on three children.  One daughter, Lena, was born with a moderate to severe hearing loss and is currently mainstreamed.

Zachery Buhner, Vice President

Zach is the parent of three children, one of whom has a severe hearing loss and is mainstreamed. Zach lives in Fishers and owns his own medical sales company. His wife, Mary Susan, is also a volunteer for Hear Indiana. Together they hope more families will learn about Doing Deaf Differently.

Matthew Rinka

Matt is an Assistant United States Attorny in the Southern District of Indiana where he serves as the District's Anti-Gang Coordinator and Project Sentry (firearms) Coordinator.  In addition to his work with the Department of Justice, Matt holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He is presently assigned to the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe - Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet, Martime Partnership Program, headquartered in Naples, Italy.  Matt has a B.B.A. in finance from The George Washington University and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.  He and his wife Elaine live in Westfield.


amycountsgif (2).gifAmy Counts, Treasurer
Amy Counts resides in Greenwood, Indiana with her husband Greg, and son Gavin.  Amy graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree from the Kelley School of Business.  She is currently employed with Old National Bank as a Corporate Lender.  In 2008, Amy suddenly lost all her hearing in one ear, and soon after became involved with Hear Indiana to educate others about hearing loss and all possible interventions.

Chris Miyamoto

of chris.jpgChris is a cochlear implant surgeon at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University and his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He completed his surgical internship and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and his Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston / Harvard Medical School.  He also currently serves on the Indiana Early Hearing Detection and Intervention advisory board.

Cathy Eastes

cathy eastes.gifCathy Eastes is a deaf educator for the Hamilton-Boone-Madison Special Services Cooperative. She has worked as a deaf educator since 1992, and services children who use a variety of communication modes. Cathy resides in Carmel with her husband and two children. She truly enjoys her job and cherishes the relationships that she has built with educators, parents, medical professionals, and administrators.

Justin Ogden, Past President

Justin is a native of Indianapolis. He was born with a severe - profound hearing loss in both ears. He has always used spoken language, and he has always been fully mainstreamed. After graduating from Butler University in 2004 he began employment as a legal assistant and paralegal specialist for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana. He is currently pursuing a Master's in Public Affairs at IUPUI.

Laura Getz

laura getz.jpg Laura is an elementary educator in Lawrence Township. She is also the parent of a hard of hearing child who is mainstreamed. Laura has a talent for fundraising, and she adds a wealth of knowledge to our group about mainstream education.

Kristin Vincent

kristin.jpgKristin Vincent received her Bachelor's of Science and her Master's of Science degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University. Following graduation, she worked for St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf - Indianapolis as a speech-language pathologist, where she provided auditory-oral intervention services to preschool and kindergarten-aged students, preparing them for mainstream settings. Kristin currently works at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where she specializes in deaf and hard-of-hearing children, as well as, children with autism spectrum disorders.




Chris Salvo

(2).jpgChris is a 34-year-old hard of hearing adult. He was born with hearing, but at 16-months-old spinal meningitis caused a severe hearing loss.  He received hearing aids, attended mainstream schools, and learned to listen and speak. He has a hard of hearing wife, Cherily (Baney) Salvo, and together they have two hearing daughters.

Jane Ellen Watkins,       

Educational Programming Chair

jane.jpgJane Ellen is  itinerant teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing students in Johnson County. She received her BA from the University of Alabama and her MA from Indiana University. She has over 10 years teaching experience with mainstreamed student s in the public school setting.
