Connect to Life:  Hearing Aids - A Fusion of Technologies

Carolyn Garner, M.A.

Professor Garner has been a member of the Clinical Faculty at Indiana University for 22 years.  She teaches the clinical courses in Audiological Testing and Hearing Aids.  She has a special interest in the identification and habilitation of hearing loss in children as well as working with the Intellectually Disabled population through Healthy Athletes and Special Olympics.



Abstract:

Hearing Aid technology has exploded with the advent of digital processing.   Just as we have SmartPhones, we now have Smart Hearing Aids!  In this session a brief introduction to hearing loss and its affect on communication will be described.  A description of the newest technology in hearing aids will be presented including wireless “connectivity” to other  devices and the automatic features now available.
